Dog adopts ducklings
Mountfitchet Castle’s resident dog Fred has welcomed nine young feathered friends into his life.
The ten-year-old labrador stepped in to care for a brace of ducklings whose mother disappeared last week.
Staff at Mountfitchet Castle were worried when they noticed the baby birds waddling around the grounds by themselves, but to their relief, Fred took in the orhpaned ducks “immediately” and “has been babysitting ever since”
Video shows the web-footed flock perched atop Fred’s back and huddling around him in the castle grounds- an unusual family portrait, to say the least.
