Last day to register online to vote in June 5th election is Monday

All voter registrations must be postmarked by Monday. Monday is also the last day to register to vote online. And while Monday is the official deadline to register, a new rule is giving you a little more time…

After today, all citizens who want to vote in this election will have to go to the Monterey County Elections Office and register to vote conditionally. Conditional Voter Registration is a new California rule that took effect last year and this will be the first time it has been in place for the primaries, which could be a good thing because of all the interest generated.

“Every election we see a bump up. People are conducting registration drives and political parties are pushing for registration. There’s many petitions circulating across the state,” said Claudio Valenzuela.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, and not in prison.
