A suspected drug dealer was found in possession of thousands of dollars worth of drugs in south Monterey County thanks to numerous community tips.

Thursday morning, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and SWAT team went to a home in the 45000 block of Appaloosa Way in King City. Upon serving the search warrant, 49-year-old Jody Elzey was found smoking crystal methamphetamine in his room.

More than half a pound of crystal meth, packaging materials and a scale were found inside the home.

The sheriff’s office said the street value of the seizure is approximately $4000-$8000, depending on how and in what quantity the methamphetamine is sold.

“This case is truly an example of community policing and the good that comes from working in partnership with our community and law enforcement partners.”
