Felon found with high powered gun in Santa Cruz hotel

A Santa Cruz man is behind bars after being caught with a gun in a hotel.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday May 15th, members of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office Gang Enforcement Team served a search warrant a hotel on Ocean Street.

During the search, deputies found a high powered rifle and ammunition in David Gomez’s room.

Gomez was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Gomez was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
