Watsonville teen injured in stabbing near Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

UPDATE: 5/14/2018 4:28 p.m. One adult and three juveniles were arrested for a stabbing near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Saturday night.

Officers responded to a report of 4 people fighting another man in the 400 block of Beach Street.

“Witness statements and evidence collected at the scene determined the fight began after words were exchanged between both parties. During the exchange of words, the juvenile victim crossed the street towards the group, and a fight broke out,” said Santa Cruz Police Lt. Warren Barry.

During the fight, the 17-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times. The Watsonville teen sustained injuries to the face, and torso. He was taken to Valley Medical Center and has since been released.

18-year-old Oscar Lopez Ramirez-Gonzales, and the juveniles, were all charged with attempted murder and participating in a criminal street gang.

Ramirez-Gonzales was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. The three juveniles were sent to juvenile hall.

One person is injured and four people were detained after a stabbing near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Saturday night.

Santa Cruz Police tell KION they responded at around 10 p.m. to Beach Street and Leibrandt Avenue. The 17-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso, and was transported to a Santa Clara County trauma center.

No charges have been filed yet, as police work to determine who was involved in the attack.

This investigation is still ongoing.
