Teen arrested for target shooting under Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge
A teen was arrested for target shooting under Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge in Big Sur.
According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Joseph Cool-Tomasi walked underneath the bridge and decided to shoot a semi-automatic pistol at the hillside while Highway 1 traffic drove by.
The shooting occurred on May 11.
“Multiple shots were heard and reported to state park rangers and sheriff deputies,” the sheriff’s office said.
A deputy in Big Sur was parked nearby at the post office and saw Cool-Tomasi and a friend walking away from the area.
Cool-Tomasi admitted to having a gun and to the target shooting at the bridge. He was arrested for being unlawfully in possession of a concealable weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm.
