Police investigate Hollister mans involvement in Gilroy shooting & attempted carjackings

A Hollister man is being investigated for his involvement in several attempted carjackings, and a shooting after crashing a car in Gilroy.

One of the attempted carjackings took place just before 6 p.m. on Monday in the 8500 block of Kern Avenue.

According to Gilroy Police,18-year-old Tristan Scally of Hollister and two other minors ordered a victim and his passenger out of a car at gunpoint.

When the suspects tried to get away the victim kept the key fob and prevented them from taking his car. GPD said Scally and the two minors took off in their own car and the victim followed as he called 911.

The victim told police he believed the carjackers threw a gun out the window at Santa Teresa Blvd. and the Uvas Creek Bridge.

“A firearm was later recovered in the aforementioned area with the assistance of the Santa Clara County Sheriff Search and Rescue Team,” said GPD.

The suspect car collided into a tree in the front yard of a home on the 5400 block of Mesa Road.

All three suspects took off running in different directions and were taken into custody a short distance away.
