Over 15 great white sharks seen in Aptos waters

It was quite a sight today in Aptos as Specialized Helicopters got a bird’s eye view of multiple great white sharks.

As temperatures get warmer and with pupping season underway, the sharks make their way out.

Pilots counted over 15 mid-sized (10′-14′) great whites hanging out near the Cement Ship. No word yet on how many sharks are expected to be out in full-force this season, but today’s sightings may be a good indicator.

Those in the water are reminded to stay vigilant.

Just last week a bill aimed at providing more information into the lives of California’s great white sharks passed with a unanimous vote. The bill would grant more resources to scientists and researchers studying sharks off the West Coast to hopefully make beaches safer as great white sharks make a comeback.
