70-year-old robbed of her purse in church parking lot after bible study
A 70-year-old woman was walking to her car after leaving Bible study when a man robbed her in the parking lot of her Nashville church, authorities said.
On Tuesday, the suspect approached the victim and asked if she knew of any nearby shelters, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. He then reached out of his truck’s window, grabbed the woman’s purse and caused her to fall to the ground.
The woman suffered broken bones in her right hand and facial injuries.
In a video released by the department, the woman is seen lying on the asphalt as the suspect drives away.
Police later identified him as 48-year-old Gilbert D. Ostrind.
He was released from prison in 2017 and has multiple prior convictions for offenses including theft, forgery, fraudulent use of credit cards and reckless aggravated assault, police said in a statement.
Anyone with information on Ostrind’s whereabouts is urged to immediately contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
