Santa Cruz police investigating group fight

Santa Cruz Police are investigating a fight that happened on Lincoln Street Tuesday.

Police said officers responded to a fight and possible shots fired in the 500 block of Lincoln Street.

One person got out of an SUV and started to urinate on the curb. A resident then confronted that person which led to an argument. Passengers from the SUV also got out of the car and confronted the resident and resident’s family members. A fight then broke out between the two groups.

During the fight, one person from the SUV brandished a pistol that was tucked in their waistband.

They then took off in the green colored SUV with a primer car hood.

The Santa Cruz Police Department said because the fight was so close to Santa Cruz High and a weapon was involved, the school was temporarily put on lockdown.

Officers later determined no students were involved.

The people involved are not cooperating with police.

Anyone who saw this incident or has any information is asked to call police at 831-420-5820.
