Watsonville teen arrested after shooting threat on social media
A teenage boy was arrested in Watsonville after threatening to shoot another boy on social media.
Watsonville police were called to Freedom Alternative school on reports of the threat on Monday just before noon. The school in the 1400 block of Freedom Blvd. is run by the Santa Cruz County Probation Department.
Watsonville Police and Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies then went to the juveniles home where he was arrested. The 14 year old is already on probation for separate gun offenses. Officers found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol on his bed. The gun had been reported stolen out of Stockton over ten years ago.
Police say this is a good reminder, “if you see something, say something.” They say in this case the report may have saved a boy’s life. Neither of the boy’s names are being released.
