Trendy barbershop offers more than just a buzz in Santa Cruz
A trendy new barbershop is offering more than your average buzz cut in Santa Cruz County.
Whether it’s a hard part, low fade or bald taper, barbershops are becoming the place to go for a clean look. But it’s Waves and Fades located on 41st Avenue in Santa Cruz that keeps customers excited to walk through the doors again and again.
“I was like pretty plain and just get like a buzz cut. Now I actually have a little wave. I wake up and I’m all stoked, I got to give myself like 20 minutes to get ready,” said Jeremy Epson.
Epson is in the car sales business. He isn’t the only one who’s caught the barber buzz.
Lots of people are catching on and while barbers were a really big deal back in the 1940’s some customers think they’re making a comeback.
“Trends man, the fades are very trendy I think right now,” said Waves and Fades regular, Zac Shoper.
22-year-old Elias Campbell is changing the game combining two different cultures at his barber shop Waves and Fades.
“Our big thing is community made surf and style and what I mean by that is we try to perfect every haircut that’s coming in, so that’s the style part. And by surf, we bring surf culture in it,” Campbell said.
Waves and Fades has a prime location just minutes from legendary surf spots like Pleasure Point and the hook.
The trend setting barbershop also serves complimentary beer or coffee, because sometimes guys just want to feel pampered too.
“I love it. I mean I was just telling her I got a massage yesterday and it’s only right to get a haircut,” said Epson.
To experience the greatness of Waves and Fades, you’re looking at a $30 haircut.
