Suspects attempt to ditch stolen gun in Salinas

Two men were arrested after attempting to ditch a stolen gun in Salinas.

It all took place on North Sanborn Road & East Market Street on Sunday.

Two officers were getting ready to stop a black BMW for having tinted windows but before the car was pulled over the suspects threw a gun onto the street.

It took several officers to stop the car and detain the suspects.

Both 21-year-old Diego Aranjo Hernandez and 21-year-old Carlos Oliva Hernandez were arrested.

“The firearm they discarded had been reported stolen,” said Salinas PD.

The suspects were booked into Monterey County Jail for various firearm charges.
