Watsonville’s Granite Construction site burglarized

Watsonville Police busted a man for burglarizing a business on Easter and later found out it wasn’t his only crime.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a burglary alarm at Granite Construction located at 600 W. Beach Street. Officers noticed a broken window to the business and backup was requested.

“An extensive search was conducted, but no one was located on the property,” said Sgt. Bryan Fuentez.

After reviewing surveillance video officers recognized the suspect as Oscar Antunez, a homeless man who frequented the area.

Antunez was spotted in one of the containers on the railroad tracks behind Granite Construction. Several stolen items were found in his possession.

After further investigation, officers were able to tie Antunez to 4 other burglary cases that occurred over the past two months.
