Reckless driver busted with loaded guns, drugs in Watsonville

A reckless driver with loaded guns was arrested in Watsonville early Wednesday morning.

According to Watsonville PD, the driver, 23-year-old Jose Alvarez was running red lights and making unsafe sharp turns in the area of Lincoln and Riverside Drive next to Watsonville High School around 12:23 a.m.

In an effort to ditch cops, Alvarez parked his car and ran down a driveway near Blackburn Court.

“However, with the help of several citizens, Officers were able to locate the driver,” said WPD.

During a search of the suspect’s car, officers found marijuana and two loaded hand guns. One of the guns had a defaced serial number and the other was not registered to Alvarez.

Alvarez was arrested and taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail.
