Chinatown homeless prepare for more wet weather
The rain is bad enough, but when you add wind, a simple tent doesn’t offer much protection. The people living in the homeless encampment, Chinatown, say the wind and rain combination make it unbearable.
People living on the streets in Chinatown spent Wednesday preparing for this latest round of weather. And when they get a few brief moments without rain, they fix their tent and try to find dry blankets.
“Rain and windy together is terrible. Look at it, everything blows away. You have to have everything bolted down. Once our blankets get wet we have to use wet blankets or find a way to dry our blankets,” said Chinatown Resident Daisy Martinez.
Those who don’t have a tent or tarp typically find shelter under a bridge or under the awning of a business.
