CHP: Speeding big rig overturns in Watsonville
The driver of a big rig suffered major injuries after flipping his semi truck off of Highway 1, Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old Oakland man was speeding near W. Riverside Drive when he lost control and the truck overturned, trapping him inside.
The big rig was fully loaded with glass and marble when the accident occurred around 7:49 a.m.
CHP had the ramp closed off, while firefighters extricated the driver and cleared off the roadway.
No other cars were involved in the accident. The truck driver suffered major injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center.
