Suspects planned to drink, do drugs, & “party” with minors, says Sheriff’s Office

A foursomes plan to go up to Fremont Peak State Park to drink, do drugs and “party,” was cut short when a sergeant with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office found booze and drugs inside their car.

On March 12, Sgt. Lobdell approached a car pulled over on San Juan Canyon Road near the Alameda where he found 30-year-old Salinas resident Pablo Tapia, two minors and 18-year-old Jennifer Gonzalez of Watsonville.

“During the course of conducting a search of Tapia’s vehicle, Sgt Lobdell found a large number of opened, partially consumed, empty and unopened beer cans and bottles. Several of the opened partially consumed beer containers had tipped over and soaked the interior,” said Cpt Eric Taylor.

A plastic baggie of methamphetamine was also found under the front passenger seat.

Tapia was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance, having open containers in the vehicle and driving without a license.

Gonzalez was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance, minor in possession of alcohol, providing a false name to a peace officer and a probation violation.

The 17-year-old girls were arrested for being minors in possession of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance.
