California Rodeo Association gives example of what’s allowed under new Clear Bag Policy
This new clear bag policy is similar to what you would see if you went to an NFL game, and it’s becoming the new trend as safety concerns increase across the nation.
The new policy is not only supposed to increase safety, but also efficiency at the Salinas Sports Complex gate. I’m told there was no one incident that prompted this change, but the California Rodeo Security Chairman brought up the idea and following lots of discussion they decided this was the right move.
“Small clutches are okay. If you’re in a pinch a gallon ziplock bag is okay. I have an example of a bag from the Wrangler National Rodeo that I got there. It’s a clear tote. We have very specific guidelines, the biggest part about this now is going to be getting the word out,” said Marketing Manager Mandy Linquist.
The policy will be mailed out with tickets, and on those you print at home. Exceptions to the rule include diaper bags and medically necessary items, which are still subject to search.
Monster Jam on May 6th will be the first event where this change will be implemented. You can find full details on the policy change here.
