Power outage impacting thousands in Fort Ord area

UPDATE: PG&E says about half of those impacted by the outage have had power restored.

Spokesperson Mayra Tostado tells us a downed power line was found in Carmel Valley and was the source of the outage.

At the outage’s peak, 6,474 were without power.

The company continues to work to restore power to the remainder of customers.

Over 4,000 people are without power in Monterey County, as PG&E assesses the cause of the outage.

The outage comes as strong winds and rain have been in the forecast most of the week.

Crews have been assigned to the area and there is an estimated time of restoration at 7:00 p.m.
