Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated for possible corruption
KION has learned an investigation is ongoing into Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, involving possible corruption regarding invalid search warrants.
Upon request last month, officials with the Sheriff’s Office would not comment, but in filing a Freedom of Information Act request, we learned the Monterey County District Attorney’s office is indeed investigating the claims.
In a response letter, the County Counsel tells us “any further information on the case is not disclosable as long as the investigation is pending.”
Monday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office spoke out and told KION they were made aware of the investigation a couple of weeks ago. They say they are complying with the investigation and all Deputies involved are still working, but were not able to provide any other information.
KION will remain on this story and will provide any new details that arise.
