Video surveillance captures Santa Cruz shooting, two arrested
Two men were arrested in connection to a shooting in Santa Cruz Sunday night.
Around 10:06 p.m. officers responded to shots fired in the 100 block of Myrtle Street. SCPD confirmed a shooting occurred but no one was struck.
Video surveillance was collected and captured the shooting. Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspects car which matched the license plate given to dispatchers.
SCPD spotted the car and pulled it over in the 2200 block of Mission Street. During a vehicle search, officers found two loaded guns, an illegal high capacity magazine, and crack cocaine.
The three men inside the car were detained and taken to the Santa Cruz Police Department for questioning.
24-year-old Frank Kuit was arrested for willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of an illegal high-capacity magazine.
25-year-old Hunter Everly was arrested for possession and transportation of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance while armed with a firearm, commission of a felony while out on bail, and an outstanding warrant.
The third occupant was later released.
