Man arrested for punching someone in the head in Monterey
A man is behind bars after punching someone on Alvarado Street in Monterey.
According to Monterey Police, it happened on the 300 block of Alvarado Street at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, March 7th.
Police said 29-year-old Benjamin Van Cleave punched the victim in the head and knocked the person to the ground.
The victim was taken to CHOMP for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Video surveillance helped investigators identify the suspect.
Van Cleave was arrested on Thursday after an officer spotted him walking on Hartnell Street in Monterey.
He was booked into the Monterey County Jail charged with felony battery.
