Man dies after being hit by car in Watsonville

UPDATE: The pedestrian was airlifted to a trauma center where he later died from injuries sustained in this collision.

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. It has not yet been determined which party caused this collision. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

A man suffered severe injuries after being struck by a car in Watsonville Tuesday morning.

According to Watsonville Police, the accident occurred on Harkins Slough Road behind Ramsay Park around 7 a.m.

The victim was flown to a nearby trauma center. The driver is cooperating with investigators. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a factor.

WPD said Harkins Slough Road will be closed for about 4 hours, “please stay away from area.”
