Salinas police respond to the 4th homicide of the year
UPDATE: The victim of Salinas’ 4th homicide of the year has been identified as 32-year-old Gabriel Jimenez Avalos. Avalos was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the scene.
It appears Avalos was talking with another man, a male in his 40’s, when they were approached by two male suspects. The suspects were dressed in dark hoodies and possible blue jeans. One of the suspects asked the victims where they were from and both suspects pulled handguns from their waistbands. The suspects were last seen running eastbound on Eisenhower toward Barkley St. It is unknown where they went from there.
It is being investigated as gang-related.
