Salinas Police bust teens with stolen guns

During a routine traffic stop in Salinas, officers found themselves confronting two teens with loaded guns.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Sunday, in the area of Del Monte Avenue and Towt Street when officers noticed the driver of a black truck committing several traffic violations. As officers approached the car they saw open beer containers in the cab of the truck and asked the driver to step out.

As 19-year-old Jaime Beltran got out of the truck officers noticed a gun in his waistband. Two other people were ordered out of the vehicle. 19-year-old Joshua Garcia also had a loaded handgun in his waistband.

“It was discovered that the third passenger, Ivan Alcala (21) had an outstanding warrant for his arrest,” said SPD.

All three suspects were taken to Monterey County Jail on various charges including gang members possessing firearms, felon in possession of a firearm, and gang enhancements.

Both guns turned out to be stolen.
