200 pounds of pot plants seized in Hollister

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office seized nearly 200 pounds of cannabis plants from a property in Hollister.

Authorities gave the property owners months notice that the amount of cannabis being grown was unlawful and it had to be removed.

On February 5 around 8:15 a.m. the Sheriff”s Office, Unified Narcotic Enforcement Team and the Hollister Police Department served an abatement warrant at the property in the 300 block of Ladd Lane.

“Approximately 200 pounds of growing cannabis plants were removed from the property and destroyed at a local landfill. Six (6) growing mature marijuana plants were left at the property, in accordance with the abatement requirements for the property,” said Cpt. Eric Taylor.

No one was arrested, but the operators face $54,000 worth of penalties.
