K-9 sniffs out $34K worth of drugs in Watsonville

With the help of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office narcotic dog, detectives were able to seize more than $30,000 worth of drugs in Watsonville.

The Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Team served a search warrant for drugs at a home in the 100 block of 9th Street on February 15. During the search detectives located Modesto Munoz and other family members inside the home.

“While searching the home, detectives with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office narcotic dog Colt, located methamphetamine and heroin. Colt and detectives were able to find a large amount of methamphetamine and heroin inside Munoz’ car. A total of 9 pounds of methamphetamine and 1 pound of heroin were seized,” said Sgt. Brian Cleveland.

The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is about $22,500 and the heroin added up to more than $12,000.

Munoz was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for the sales of Methamphetamine and Heroin and is being held on a bail of $100,000.
