Salinas Police find illegal rifle near where 2-year-old sleeps

Following a traffic stop, officers with Salinas Police conducted a search warrant at the drivers home and found an illegal rifle, several rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Officers with the Violent Suppression Unit and State Parole served a search warrant at the home of 23-year-old Jesse Jimenez in the 100 block of Marigold Way.

“During the search, officers located a bottle of Promethazine (liquid similar to codeine),packaging material, a scale with cocaine residue, one 1911 high capacity magazine, two Glock 10 round magazines, two Glock 30 round magazines, one AR-15 30 round magazine, 40 rounds of ammunition and a short barrel rifle AR-15.

Police said Jimenez illegally manufactured the AR-15 which was found near where a two-year-old sleeps.

Jimenez was booked into the Monterey County Jail for weapons and drug violations along with child endangerment and gang enhancement.
