Hollister police arrest man connected to fentanyl overdose death

Hollister Police officers have arrested an 18-year-old man with ties to a recent fentanyl related overdose death.

According to the Hollister Police Department, their investigation revealed that someone who recently died from taking a drug with fentanyl got the controlled substance from 18-year-old Daniel Ray Cadena.

The victim died in December 2017 after ingesting several narcotics and controlled substances. One of the substances was counterfeit pharmaceutical medication and it unknowingly contained fentanyl.

Cadena was arrested during a search warrant by agents of the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team and Hollister Police.

Cadena is now in the San Benito County Jail on charges of involuntary manslaughter, and furnishing/sales of narcotics and controlled substance.

Police are reminding people about the dangerous opioid epidemic and how it impacts the community. The department is urging you to properly dispose of any unused medications.
