Salinas: DUI driver crashes into porta potty; gets 3 years in prison
A Salinas man was sentenced to three years in prison for driving with a blood alcohol content nearly triple the legal limit.
34-year-old Luis Alberto Chavez was doing doughnuts while driving drunk on October 13, 2016 when he crashed his car into a porta potty. The California Highway Patrol responded to the solo crash on San Juan Grade Road. During their investigation, officers said Chavez admitted to consuming alcohol and a breath sample indicated he was nearly triple the legal limit.
The DA’s Office said, “The Defendant failed to report to Probation and stopped attending his DUI program classes.”
