Prison escapee apprehended in Salinas

A man who escaped from Salinas Valley State Prison last December is back behind bars.

24-year-old Jesus Perez was arrested last night after being spotted going into the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Kenneth Avenue in Salinas.

State parole agents and members of the Salinas PD Violence Suppression Unit took him into custody. They said Perez was in possession of methamphetamine. Perez had walked away from an alternative custody program on December 11th of last year.

“The photographs illustrate how individuals change their appearance to avoid detection,” said Salinas PD.

Perez is back at Salinas Valley State Prison.
