Earthquake hits east of Watsonville

A 3.6 magnitude earthquake hit east of Watsonville Tuesday night. It originally registered as a 3.9 earthquake but has since been downgraded.

According to the USGS, the quake struck about 3 miles from Interlaken at 10:02 p.m.

A 2.7 aftershock hit shortly after.

Thousands of people reported feeling it across the Bay Area and Central Coast including people in Gilroy and Watsonville.
