Salinas man faces 15 years in prison after assault, resisting an officer
UPDATE 1/23/2018: Salinas resident 26-year-old Clemente Morado was sentenced to 15 years, 4 months after pleading “no contest” to four counts of felony charges, including shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon in jail, and resisting an executive officer.
Morado was previously convicted of a strike offense for burglarizing a residence in 2009.

A Salinas man faces over 15 years in state prison after pleading no contest to four counts of felony charges.
26-year-old Clemente Morado pleaded no contest to shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon in jail, and resisting an executive officer.
Morado was previously convicted of a strike offense for burglarizing a residence in 2009.
On December 31, 2015, officials say Morado resisted a Salinas police officer and fled the scene during a traffic stop. Two months later, on February 29, 2016, Morado engaged in an altercation with some individuals in the parking lot of Shop & Save, located on North Main street in Salinas.
During this altercation, Morado exchanged gunfire with the individuals in the vehicle. Following his arrest, Morado assaulted a fellow inmate with a deadly weapon. The inmate suffered a stab wound on his neck, along with significant blood loss.
Morado’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 11, 2018.
