Monterey Massage Envy “working to re-open the location”

Monterey County residents have been up in arms with the recent closure of Massage Envy in Monterey, and no real explanation.

A letter was posted on the door of the location saying customers can use their memberships at other locations, and said they had “closed permanently.”

Contradicting that, however KION received a statement saying, “The Massage Envy franchised location in Monterey closed this week due to the personal bankruptcy filing of the franchisee. Massage Envy is working to re-open the location as soon as possible, and will notify the members of the location as we learn more.”

This comes months after employees of the popular chain were accused of sexual assault.

An investigation found more than 180 women had accused therapists of groping and other sexual acts.
