Beach advisory for two Monterey County beaches

The Monterey County Health Department is warning people to stay out of the water at Monterey Municipal Beach and Carmel Beach due to high levels of bacteria.

The Health Department said samples taken on January 16th found higher levels of bacteria associated with potential risk of illness.

People are being advised not to swim in or have contact with storm drain water. Bacteria, viruses, protozoa or chemicals could contaminate storm drain water.
