Hollister man commits six armed robberies across Central Coast
UPDATE: 1/16/2018 3:50 p.m. A masked gunman who robbed a Morgan Hill optical store over Christmas weekend confessed to five other armed robberies across the Central Coast.
After Morgan Hill Police shared surveillance photos of the robbery at EYEfiniTEA Optique they were able to identify the suspect as Matthew Aaron De La Rosa of Hollister.
“De La Rosa is known to have committed armed robberies in Morgan Hill, Sunnyvale, Monterey, Seaside, San Jose and Capitola,” said MHPD.
On January 12, Morgan Hill Police Detectives located De La Rosa in Hollister with his girlfriend. San Benito County Sheriff’s arrested his girlfriend, 44-year-old Christy Aguirre for multiple unrelated charges.
A search warrant of De La Rosa’s house led detectives to evidence from the Morgan Hill and Monterey robberies.
De La Rosa confessed to committing all six armed robberies. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple armed robbery charges.

Morgan Hill Police need help finding a masked gunman who robbed an optical store over the weekend.
According to police, the suspect walked into EYEfiniTEA Optique& Lounge located at 15700 Monterey Road and showed employees a gun in his waistband and demanded money.
The suspect ran out of the business with money and two pairs of sunglasses.
Police describe the armed suspect as a 26 to 27-year-old Hispanic male. He is about 5’6 in height, and was wearing a blue medical mask and dark grey shirt.
