Salinas bank robbed at gunpoint

Salinas Police are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a bank in Salinas.

Witnesses said a man walked into the Chase bank at 800 E. Alisal Street wearing a bandana over his face, and gloves while holding a gun. The robbery took place Monday around 9:51 a.m.

The suspect pointed the gun at a person sitting on a couch by the door and ordered her to walk with him to the teller. The suspect demanded money from tellers and put the cash into a plastic bag. Before he walked outside he placed the gun in the bag with the money and was last seen crossing Alisal towards N. Felice.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 25-30 years-old, about 5’10, thin build, wearing a black jacket with a hood, a white bandana, gloves and gray sweatpants. He was armed with a black handgun with an extended magazine,” said Salinas PD.

Anyone with information should call Commander Mike Groves at 758-7250.
