King City to roll out new citywide security camera system
City leaders in King City are inviting the public to see its new citywide security camera system.
It is Phase 1 of the city’s Comprehensive Plan to End Youth Violence. They believe the cameras, which would be put in key parts of the city, would immediately improve public safety by detecting and deterring criminal activity. The cameras will all be linked to the King City Police Department. The cost of Phase 1 is about $450,000.
In 2017, King City saw about 30 shootings, a large number for a small city of 13,000 people.
The public can see how the system works at an open house on Jan. 9, 2018 at the King City Police Station located at 415 Bassett Street. The open house is from 4-6 p.m.
