King City police arrest man for car burglaries
King City police arrested a man Monday for burglarizing several cars and making off with around $1,000 in stolen goods.
Officers had just arrived to investigate a car break-in on North Vanderhurst Avenue when they received reports of another car burglary in progress. They found Joel Arciniega, 30, inside a car in the backyard of a home in the 300 block of Ellis Street.
Arciniega fled on foot, and was captured after a short chase and scuffle with officers. The arresting officers sustained minor injuries, and returned to duty.
Witnesses identified Arciniega as the man responsible for the break-ins. Police say he had approximately $1,000 in stolen tools and stereo equipment. The stolen items were returned to the owners.
Arciniega is also suspected of tampering with three other vehicles in an attempt to gain entry.
He was arrested on two counts of burglary to a vehicle, three counts of tampering with an automobile, one count of petty theft, and two counts of resisting arrest by force. He was booked into Monterey County Jail.
