Survey posted for Santa Cruz County residents to help officials plan for the future

As part of a new strategic planning process Santa Cruz County officials want to hear from residents about what values and visions they have for the County.

This is the first survey of its kind for the county. Officials say as they plan for the future they want residents to be involved. County Spokesperson Jason Hoppin says it’s a chance for their voices to be heard, “This is really a way to have a voice in what the long term direction of the county is going to be, this is what we’re going to use to guide our path going forward into the future.”

The survey closes on December 31st 2017. After it’s closed the county will analyze the responses and present a plan to the Board of Supervisors in June of 2018.

Out of the 272,000 residents in Santa Cruz County, about 2,000 have responded so far. Hoppin says the visions and values have been pretty consistent, “they want the county to be safe they want the county to be affordable, so a bit of the housing crisis is being expressed in this survey so far, they want us to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.”

The survey is 7 questions and takes about 10 minutes to fill out. If you are interested in taking it, click here.
