Salinas man pleads guilty to molesting 10-year-old family member

A Salinas man has pleaded guilty to sexually molesting his 10-year-old family member.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, the victim reported that 27-year-old Eddie Martinez-Perez sexually molested her two years ago when he was babysitting her. She told investigators that she woke up in the middle of the night and found Martinez-Perez lying next to her in bed and was molesting her.

This charge is considered a “strike” under California’s Three Strikes law.

Martinez-Perez will be sentenced on January 25, 2018 to a maximum sentence of six years to be served in state prison.

“The charge Martinez-Perez pled guilty to is a violent felony so Martinez-Perez will have to serve 85% of his sentence before being released,” said the District Attorney’s Office.

Martinez-Perez will be required to register as a sexual offender.
