Teen shot dead in Greenfield, home shot 14 times

A Greenfield teen was shot just before 8 p.m. Sunday night on the 1000 block of Oak Avenue, according to Greenfield Police. The 17-year-old victim was transported to Natividad Hospital where he was treated before being pronounced dead.

The teenager, whose identity has not been released yet, was on foot, possibly running away from his attacker when he was shot, according to police.

A young woman who lives on Oak Avenue said she was getting ready for bed when she heard what sounded like fireworks. She said at least 14 shots were fired at her home, including one that went into the living room where her father-in-law was watching T.V. No one inside of the home was hurt.

This shooting marks Greenfield’s 2nd homicide of the year. It’s still unclear if it was gang-related.

KION’s Paul Dudley spoke to police and the neighbor who said she heard everything and saw more than she ever wanted to. The full story airs at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
