Gilroy house fire sends two firefighters to hospital
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital after a fire erupted at a home in Gilroy.
According to Gilroy Fire’s Division Chief, Mary Gutierrez the fire started at 401 Broadway around 2:21 a.m.
“Multiple callers reported hearing an explosion at a home,” said Chief Gutierrez.
Two firefighters were transported to Saint Louise Hospital after suffering injuries battling the flames. Chief Gutierrez did not give specifics on the firefighters injuries but did say both have been released from the hospital.

One resident drove to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The house has been declared a total loss and six residents have been displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire was fully contained at 11:12 a.m.
