World War II era grenade found in North Salinas

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office’s bomb squad detonated an old grenade found in a North Salinas neighborhood Wednesday night.

According to Salinas Police, the World War II era grenade was found on the 1400 block of Adams Street around 6 p.m.

The bomb squad transported the device to the Monterey County courtyard to detonate it. It was rendered safe two hours later.

The Salinas Fire Department, Salinas Police and bomb squad responded.
