Watsonville man with outstanding warrants arrested while sleeping

A Watsonville man is behind bars after officers spotted him sleeping.

On Tuesday morning, Watsonville Police Officers spotted 24-year-old Jose Gonzalez in the back seat of a vehicle parked on Faith Drive near Maranatha Drive in Watsonville.

Officials say Gonzalez has several outstanding felony arrest warrants. There were two additional occupants in the vehicle, one with an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant and the other was on searchable probation.

Officers were able to approach and arrest Gonzalez as he slept in the back seat.

A search of the vehicle revealed Gonzalez was in possession of a loaded firearm, drug paraphernalia, and shaved keys.

He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on the charges. The other subjects were arrested and issued criminal citations.
