Santa Cruz Warriors hold Tip Off Mixer
While the NBA season has already tipped off, the NBA’s G-League will do so in a few weeks. But that doesn’t mean they cant get the party started early.
It’s the annual Santa Cruz Warriors tip off mixer where fans, sponsors, and executives get together to celebrate everything Warriors.
Those in attendance are treated to food and wine and a ton of great basketball talk. NBA G-League President Malcolm Turner was in attendance to give his annual “State of the League” address where he spoke about the growth and expansion of the G-League. On that note, true basketball fans will notice we keep saying G-League instead of D-League. That’s because over the offseason, a major deal was struck with Gatorade to sponsor the league and bring new and exciting sports science to players and coaches. As for the Santa Cruz Warriors specifically, the organization is ready to rock.
“We’ve sold out 31 games in a row, all of last season and some of the year before. We look forward to doing that again this season. Our season ticket base is larger than it’s ever been. Fans are really flocking to be here. We’re really excited and looking forward to opening night,” said Santa Cruz Warrior’s President, Chris Murphy.
“Teams love coming here to play. They know that when you come to Santa Cruz, it’s going to be just that. A fun, family-friendly exciting atmosphere to play in,” said NBA G-League President, Malcolm Turner.
The Warriors Organization dawned their new-look basketball court today with the Golden State Warrior’s logos in the free-throw circles, and even gave fans a taste of what their new, Nike-sponsored uniforms will look like. And for Golden State fans, they got a chance to pose with the 2015 and 2017 Larry O’Brien Championship Trophies.
Once again, even though the NBA had their season opener yesterday, the G-League won’t tip off until Saturday, November 4th. That’s when the Santa Cruz Warriors will take on the South Bay Lakers for their home opener at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
