Central Coast areas seeing unhealthy air quality

As of Tuesday afternoon, Salinas’ and Santa Cruz air quality was deemed “unhealthy” with an Air Quality Index of 163.

People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.

Sensitive groups are asked to avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Move activities indoors or reschedule to a time when the air quality is better. Everyone else is asked to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion and take more breaks during all outdoor activities.

To put the numbers into perspective, Napa’s AQI is currently at 189.
