DUI driver flips truck on Highway 17 in Santa Cruz
A Santa Cruz man is in custody after crashing his vehicle on Highway 17.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Eric Pearl was driving south on Highway 17 near the Ocean Street off-ramp when he hit a guard rail and flipped his Toyota Tacoma. CHP responded to the call around 10:50 a.m. Monday and found Pearl had been driving under the influence with his dog. CHP said the dog did not sustain any injuries.
The driver was not compliant with officers at the scene and was arrested for DUI.
Pearl suffered minor injuries and was taken to Dominican Hospital.
