Wires down and small fire in Scotts Valley

UPDATE: 10/13/2017 12:36 p.m. Scotts Valley Police said the fire at Bean Creek Road is out and the road is now open. PG&E is still on scene making repairs to damaged power lines.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Downed power lines caused a small fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains Friday.

According to Scotts Valley Police, drivers were advised to stay away from the 600 to 800 block of Bean Creek Road around 10:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol is on scene and have both lanes closed.

PG&E reported that power was out to about 1042 customers in the surrounding areas. PG&E has been dispatched regarding the incident. Scotts Valley High School was without power. No evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Fire crews were able to quickly put out the fire. The road remains closed while PG&E crews require several hours to complete repairs in the area.
